First it was three Republican King County Councilmembers, including Reagan Dunn.

Then it was Snohomish County Republican State Committeeman (who has since resigned) Michael Plunkett.

Then Rep. Glenn Anderson of King County, who is running as a Republican for Lieutenant Governor of WA State.

Now, four Republican State Senators are added to the list of unprincipled 'Republicans' who are vacating truth and our Party Platform.

It is with great sadness that I comment on yesterday's Senate vote in Olympia (28-21 in favor) to legalize same-sex marriage. I directly hold the 4 Republican Senators who voted in favor of same sex marriage accountable for this loss. Had they voted in accordance with section 7 of the WA State Republican Party Platform which says "Government's responsibility is to uphold and respect traditional institutions, such as marriage between one man and one woman," this bill would have died with a vote total of 24-25.

Here is an excerpt from the Seattle Times regarding the compromising vote of these so called "Republican" legislators: "In addition to the 26 lawmakers who previously had announced support for the Senate measure, two more Republicans, Sens. Andy Hill of Redmond and Joe Fain of Auburn, voted for it as well. Republicans Steve Litzow of Mercer Island and Cheryl Pflug of Maple Valley had pledged support earlier. Overall, 24 Democrats and four Republicans voted for the bill."

It is time for the Republican Party to decide whether we are a party of political games, or a party that stands for PRINCIPLES. It is also time that every Republican candidate and elected official must declare where they stand on the platform of the party, including areas that they would not agree with. It is for this reason that my campaign has been clear from the very beginning about the principles that we stand on, and that my view of marriage will never 'evolve,' nor do I make decisions for political gain, but rather I make decisions based on principles.

May we not forget in November what happened last night.
